Keep in mind when booking a hotel, resort, inn - or any other type of accommodation, be sure to double check the following (either online or, preferably, over the phone and directly with the property itself, not the toll free main reservation line in the case of hotel chains)
1. Is the room type you need available and at the rate you want?
2. Are there are any renovations currently in progress (and if so, how will the affect your stay)?
3. Are the recreational facilities, services, amenities, and restaurants listed all still available - or have any of these changed or closed?
4. Exactly how far from the beach (or area attractions) is “right nearby” Can you walk? (and be sure to ask how exactly many blocks away it really is) or will you actually need to drive? (again, be sure to ask how long it will take)

It’s All in the Name…
Oceanfront Beachfront Oceanside - Ocean View - Beach View - Water View
As a Note: In addition to the open ocean, there are two large rivers in the Cocoa Beach
and Port Canaveral areas. If a hotel or resort mentions a “water view”, keep in mind that
this is a rather ambiguous term and could actually mean that you have an excellent view
of the river rather than the ocean - be sure to ask ahead of time (and depending on the
terms used to describe the view, be sure to ask exactly what that means and exactly what
you’ll see from your room.
1. What floor (and/or building) will your room be on? Can you actually see the beach and/or the ocean from your room (if you have chosen a room with an ocean view) or is it in any way obscured (? Which floors (and/or buildings if there are several) actually do offer a view of the beach and/or the ocean?
2. Is the view of the beach and/or ocean a full and direct view or are you only offered a glimpse from the side or far corner of the building (and do you have to be a contortionist to really see anything)?
3. Is the property located directly on the beach (which in many cases can still be a few hundred feet from the sand and surf so be sure to ask if this is the case) and if so, is there anything impeding the view (such as dense foliage which is the case in many instances along the shoreline this can block the view entirely from lower floors so again be sure to ask).
4. Is there a walkway to the beach available from your hotel or resort or do you have to walk to and locate a public entrance?
5. Do you have to cross a street or parking lot to get to the beach?
6. Exactly how many blocks is the hotel or resort from the beach?
If you’re paying to see (and hear) the ocean (which is after all really quite spectacular and very likely the reason you’ve chosen to stay here in the first place), be sure to ask the questions listed above this will practically ensure that the view you’re paying extra for is really the view you want.

What’s particularly unique about this resort is the sheer number of recreational activities available right onsite. There’s truly something for everybody in the family, no matter the age of your children - and it’s all at your doorstep. Even the beach is only steps away - and never what I would call overly crowded (though it can certainly get busy at times).
Even while vacationing here at the peak of spring break, with the hotel filled to capacity, there was never a feeling of being overcrowded or overwhelmed, so you can imagine how relaxing it is at other times throughout year. The pirate ship pool for toddlers and tykes is one of the most unique and entertaining children’s pools I’ve ever encountered and will surely keep your pint sized pirate busy for hours. In addition to the play areas and sport courts, there’s plenty of space to just run about (or to catch anoles) and it’s all set amidst a backdrop of towering palms and tropical landscaping. While everything you’ll ever need is located right on-site, you’re only minutes from area restaurants, shops, and attractions. This one’s definitely a winner for families!

In Brief
The Ron Jon Resort Cape Caribe is like no other resort around. Spread out over 27 acres of landscaped grounds, the resort features condominium-style accommodations, a multimillion-dollar water park, a children’s play area, and of course - a Ron Jon Surf Shop, albeit a much smaller version than the original (the original surf shop is located just minutes down the road in the center of Cocoa Beach). The combination of amenities, exceptional recreational facilities, and spacious accommodations make it the perfect choice for families looking for a unique vacation experience. The resort, which only recently opened in 2004, is one of the newest, and by far the most spectacular in the area.
The Highlights
-An extensive water park that includes a winding lazy river, a 248-foot water slide, a large heated pool, and a hot tub set amongst meticulously landscaped grounds.

-Beautifully landscaped grounds run throughout the entire 27 acres.
-Extensive recreational facilities, including a miniature golf course, basketball court, tennis courts, a movie theater, indoor children’s play area, and a stretch of white sandy
beach are all right onsite.
-The wide variety of available rooms, all of which are particularly spacious, tastefully decorated, and well appointed, include studios, 1-, 2-, and 3-bedroom villas
-Quiet hours are observed from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., and though the common areas are closed at that time, the policy ensures that families (and all guests) won’t be disturbed when trying to rest up for the next day’s adventures
Rooms:
The accommodations are condominium style and feature all the amenities of home - they include fully stocked full-sized kitchens, a washer and dryer, TV’s, a pull-out sofa, and much, much more. Depending on the size of your family, you have the choice of either 1, 2, or 3 bedrooms. There is more than sufficient space to spread out and relax (which also allows for privacy when necessary).
Cribs and high chairs are available upon request
All of the rooms at the resort are nonsmoking, so plan on spending some time on the balcony or common walkways if need be.

Guest Services
-Concierge services are located in the main building (there are several buildings)
-Luggage carts are available for your own use.
-Beach equipment, umbrellas and lounges, are available for rent either by the day, multiple days, or by the week. Because the resort is ownership based, there are a few differences in how things are run:

-Linens can be exchanged daily (if necessary) at the exchange center. For every dirty towel or linen you turn in, you will receive a clean replacement (with a limit of one exchange per towel/ bed linen per day).
Each unit is allotted a certain number of linens that are inventoried upon your departure so you will want to be sure you have the correct number each time you make an exchange (or you will be charged for any discrepancies).
Prior to your checking out you will need to load and run the dishwasher as well as place any dirty linens (with the exception of the bedspread) on the floor in front of the washer and dryer in your unit.
Any trash must be placed in the trash chutes located at the end of the hallways.

- A water park, including a lazy river, 248-foot waterslide, large heated pool, and a hot tub are just a few steps from your room. The beach (and Jetty Park) is located just behind the resort. Port Canaveral is located just across the street (to the left of the resort)

bored.
-There is a wonderful indoor children’s play area (this however is not supervised by the staff, so you are responsible for the kids here) that’s filled with lots for tots to do.
- The Pen Pals Childcare and Fun Center is an on-site supervised activity center for kids 2-12. They are open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily. Overall
The grounds are impeccably landscaped and inviting. The rooms are spacious and well appointed while suites are an especially good choice for families. The decor is very tasteful with special touches like French doors, recessed lighting, and paddle ceiling fans.
It’s only minutes to the beach (though there’s no view to speak of as it’s across the road and a few blocks further to the ocean), and a relatively short drive to the Kennedy Space Center. There’s even a family fun center located right nearby.
