Walt Disney World Resort- A Detailed Calendar of Events
|
|
|
Every year the Walt Disney World Resort plays host to many unique, fun, and exciting events. The calendar below lists the events so you’ll know what’s happening throughout the year and so you can keep the events in mind when planning your vacation. You may find that there is an event that you would like to take part in or simply understand that the event will bring with it additional crowds. For instance, if you happen to be vacationing during the ABC Super Soap Weekend event (held at Disney- Hollywood Studios), unless you are interested in meeting or seeing any of the stars, you may want to avoid that particular park during that weekend, heading over to the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, or Disney’s Animal Kingdom and save Disney-MGM Studios for later.

Night of Joy
The Night of Joy is a contemporary Christian celebration of biblical proportion - over 650,000 guests have attended in the past. Headlining the celebration are several of the top Christian music performers. The majority of the goings-on happen after the parks have closed, as they reopen specifically and only for those involved in the event. Keep in mind, though, that the same 650,000 or so people are quite possibly heading to the parks during the day as well, making the parks far more crowded than is normal for that time of year. |

FUNAI Classic at Walt Disney World Resort
Disneys Magnolia and Palm golf courses host some of the worlds top golfers each year for the FUNAI PGA tournament. |
October-
November |
Mickeys NotSo-Scary Halloween Party
This very family-friendly event is a huge hit with kids and adults alike.
The Magic Kingdom invites kids to come in costume (if they would like) and take part in their frightfully fun celebration of Halloween. There is a special childrens parade, trick-or-treating, and face painting, as well as other activities for all to enjoy. In addition, several of the rides will be operating. This is an after-hours event, meaning that it is held after the park closes to regular guests for the day, reopening only for those holding special tickets just for the event. Tickets sell out quickly for this popular childrens event, and buying them in advance is highly recommended. If you choose to wait and purchase yours on the day you intend to attend, you may find that you are out of luck. If you do luck out, be aware that tickets purchased that way will cost you a few extra dollars per ticket. |
| November |
ABC Super Soap Weekend
If you have ever wanted to see your favorite ABC soap stars, this is theperfect opportunity as they are here to meet and greet their fans every year. It should come as no surprise that this event is held at Disney-MGM Studios.
November: Festival of the Masters
This festival is a celebration of art and music. Hundreds of award winning artists come from all over the country to showcase their talents throughout Downtown Disney. In addition, this 3-day event features live musical performances by both blues and jazz artists, all the while families can enjoy an array of fun activities. |

Holiday Spectacular
From Thanksgiving and lasting through New Years, the Walt Disney World Resort celebrates the holidays like nowhere else on earth. The parks and resorts are magically transformed with spectacular decorations and displays throughout. Even Santa has been known to pay a visit, and with all of the hoopla, including plenty of special parades and parties, its no wonder. Several of the parks rides are operational as well. This (like Mickeys Not-So-Scary Halloween Party) is an after-hours event, meaning that it is held after the park has closed for the day, reopening only for those holding special tickets for the event. Purchasing tickets in advance for this event is highly recommended since Christmas is the most popular time of year to head to Disney, and this is an incredibly popular childrens event. It is highly unlikely that you will be able to get tickets on the day you plan on attending, setting you up for a great deal of disappointment. If you do luck out and tickets are available on the day of the event, it will end up costing you a few dollars more per ticket. |

From beginning to end, the year is filled with events that interest both young and old.
Keep in mind that attendance will most likely be considerably higher during select events
and that this may very well affect your plans. It may require that you book your resort a
bit earlier than you may have otherwise, or that you make advance dining reservations a
bit sooner than you planned. Most of these events shouldnt dramatically affect your
plans, but knowing whats happening while you are there can be helpful. |
