So You Know
If your plans include dining at the Rainforest Café, either for dinner or at any time during the busier seasons, be sure to make advance dining reservations. The park closes between 5:00 and 7:00 p.m., which is just in time for the dinner rush, and it is after all an ideal place to stop for a bite on the way out. You’ll be competing not only with everyone in the park headed home for the day and in need of dinner but also with those coming from throughout Disney property who want to experience this unique and stimulating restaurant. Something worth noting for those already at the park-there’s an entrance accessible from within the park just before reaching the informationand guest services area near the park entrance.

Dining at the Oasis
No eateries are located at the Oasis, but
The Rainforest Café isn’t far away.

Dining on Discovery Island
To the right you’ll almost immediately come across
Safari Coffee. For those starting early in theday, it’s the place to stop for pastries and a coffee, cappuccino, espresso, or soda pop. The Flame Tree Barbecue, probably the best restaurant in the park, is a bit farther up on the right, located between the island and DinoLand (which also makes it one of the most popular in the park, so beware of lines that can get long at the peak meal times). This outdoor walk-up counterservice eatery features barbecue ribs, chicken, beef, and pork sandwiches along with salads. Hidden down in and behind the restaurant, just to the left, is a good-sized and very shaded and tiered eating area filled with tables and a gazebo of sorts. Bright oranges and brilliant shades of red immediately catch your eye, while lizards, frogs, and bats are carved into and protruding from this eye-catching and colorful building. Safari Pretzel offers soft pretzels and soda pop.
The Safari Barbecue, about midway through the island, serves up turkey legs, baked chicken
wings, and drinks.

To the left is Pizzafari, a casual indoor counter-service eatery that serves pizzas, salads, and sandwiches. The exterior is very similar to that of the Flame Tree Barbecue, with colorful animal accents jutting out from the walls. There is plenty of indoor seating with a large covered outdoor seating area set off just to the left of the restaurant as well. It’s menu is of course quite popular with kids.

Dining in Africa
Midway down the main street in Hamarabe you’ll find
The Tusker House, with its thatched roof and worn exterior. This casual counter-style eatery features a small menu though with a number of unusually tasty offerings – the corn chowder, for example, is amazing. There is plenty of indoor seating however it’s the shaded stone patio with a view of the forest located out back that offers the most relaxed setting. It’s much easier to enjoy your meal tucked away from all the crowds. If you prefer to be in the midst of all the action, a large outdoor and covered pavilion is located along the street (just off to the left side of the restaurant). Often times, if you time it just right, you’ll catch a glimpse of the live performances held nearby.

Dining In Asia
A menu of Mc Donald’s French fries, hot dogs, and drinks is offered at Sunulo Toran Fries. To top off your meal (or just to cool off) grab an ice cream or a float head to the Anandapur Ice Cream shop (in the wildly decorative and somewhat decrepit bus between the Kali River Rapids entrance and the Flights of Wonder theater).

Disney had recently announced that a new restaurant, offering both sit down and counter service, was soon being added to Asia. This is of course huge given that the only other sit down eatery in the entire park is the Rainforest Café, located near the parks entrance. Word has it that Yak and Yeti slated to open in the summer of 2007 (though of course the date may change so be sure to check
www.disneyworld.com for the latest updates). The restaurant will be operated by Landry’s Restaurants (the same company who owns and operates the Rainforest Café - as well as several other popular area eateries)

Dining in Dinoland U.S.A.
Restaurantosaurus (try saying that 10 times fast…I dare you) , the only restaurant in the land, features a character dining experience during the breakfast hours (I highly recommend making Advance Dining Reservations as it’s quite popular) however operates as a normal counter service eatery during lunch and dinner. Kids appreciate the McDonald’s menu that includes burgers, chicken nuggets, and Happy Meals not to mention the hot dogs. Parents may prefer to head just a bit further away as the Flame Tree Barbeque (actually located on Discovery Island) is just a short walk across the bridge, beyond the Dinoland U.S.A. entrance (see the review listed above under dining in Discovery Island).
