Where to Eat Out with Kids (and actually survive the Experience) There are restaurants to suit every taste and every budget in and around the Orlando area - with quite literally thousands to choose from (5,180 at the last count in fact). Below however you’ll find a much smaller list – a list that includes a selection of the areas more family-appropriate eateries. They are restaurants that families with children seeking a casual, comfortable evening out together can actually dine at without worrying that the occasional tantrum, spilled glass of milk, or shrilling squeek, will be cause for alarm. They often feature a unique themed decor, a casual and friendly atmosphere, particularlyvaried menus (including the kid’s menus), or at times some form of entertainment.

These are all restaurants that I would feel comfortable taking my own children to - keeping in mind that I have five of them ranging from 5 to 13 years old - and they’re not a particularly quiet bunch to take along to dinner.
As a bonus, a sampling of the areas more upscale establishments - those appropriate for a
Parents Night Out (without the kids) have been included too.
Prior to heading out for lunch or dinner, be sure to check the restaurants’ web sites - menus and prices can change frequently at times.
*In addition, you’ll find plenty of useful information including driving directions, menus, photos, and more.

The Restaurant Ratings
While each of the restaurant listed is appropriate for families (with the exception of thoseunder Parents Night Out), some stand out among the others. The rating system simply
helps to differentiate between them.

* Casual and friendly

** Casual, friendly, and features a more varied menu with particularly good food, in
some cases a more distinctive theme or atmosphere

*** An exceptional atmosphere which in some cases may be themed, in others particularly family casual, still others particularly appealing to the adults yet still appropriate for the kids. Friendly service is of course a given.

Restaurants that receive three stars stand out among the others and shouldn’t be missed.
Pricing is often a consideration when dining out as well (and especially if you have several children), so included in each review is the average price for an entrée. . Keep in mind, however, that some restaurants may offer a small selection of specialty entrées that are priced substantially higher (for instance if nine out of ten entrees listed on the menu are priced under $15 and only one entrée is priced at $32, the average of the lower prices will be reflected in the review). Also keep in mind that the prices given include only the entrée – not the drinks, desserts, and appetizers, which can all add to your final bill.

Entrée Pricing

$ Under $10.00

$$ Between $10.00 and $20.00

$$$ From $21.00 and Up

A Dining Dilemma:
If you find yourself at a restaurant where that doesn’t offer a kids’ menu, there are still a few options available to you.
Try ordering off the appetizer menu; most restaurants offer a fairly lengthy list of appetizers – and often times they includes several kid-appropriate items. This is also a great option for kids who just can’t manage to finish an adult-size portion, but would like something more substantial (or interesting) than the usual children’s offerings.
Ask to have a regular menu item prepared in a way your kids will eat; if you notice that the restaurant offer a type of food your kids like, though it is prepared for an adults taste, ask if they could prepare it in a way your kids will like (like pasta with butter, steak without all the seasonings, or grilled chicken – you get the idea).
Ask if half portions are available; restaurants will almost never advertise the fact that this is an option however it’s always worth asking - you may be surprised at how many restaurants will do this upon request.
