So, Just What is Family-Friendly?
Family Friendly – A Definition (per Travel Insights that is):
A place where you can feel comfortable bringing your children whether they’re tots or teens - A place where the occasional temper tantrum, meltdown, or shrilling scream won’t be embarrassing? or mark the end of your public appearances-A place where you and your children are made to feel truly welcome.
With so many places these days claiming to be “family-friendly” it’s often quite difficult to determine if in fact it’s really true - until it’s too late that is. If you have kids, I’m sure you’ve experienced the cold chill that suddenly arises as staffers shudder and wince at the sight of small children - struggling to summon a smile to show how thrilled they are that you’ve come – this would be a sure sign that they’re really not as “family-friendly” as they claim. This, however, won’t be the case upon entering the establishments listed throughout this site - staffers won’t wince at the sight of your children, or cringe at the thought of having to help you – they will instead make you feel as if you and your family are VIP’s, that you are truly welcome, and that your business is genuinely appreciated.

 Theme Park Prices Reach an All Time High (8.08)
Disney and Universal have both, as of the beginning of August, increased their ticket prices across the board (admission prices, add-on’s, recreational activities, parking and more).
Pleasure Island Evolves (8.08)
Disney’s Pleasure Island is, as we know it, closing as of September 27, 2008. In its place will be a completely re-imagined and recreated Island, an Island that will filled with upscale shops, a new lineup of eateries (including a reinvention of the Portobello Yacht Club), and even a few rather unique attractions thrown in for good measure.
Disney’s Introducing an All New Quick Service Dining Plan (8.08)
For those wishing only to dine at Disney’s quick service (or counter service) eateries, an all new Disney Dining Plan (with all new options) will soon take effect.
Changes are on the Way at Disney’s Resort Hotels (8.08)
Pirate themed rooms will soon be available at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas are almost finished, an all new Archery Experience is being offered at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, and Disney’s Contemporary Resort welcomes The Wave, an all new sit-down restaurant.
Flying the Friendly Skies Costs More than Ever (8.08)
Several major airlines have not only increased ticket prices, but have added hefty fees for baggage as well as other services once included in the fare.
