A Day (or Two, or Three, or More) at the Beach
If after the hustle and bustle of vacationing in Orlando you realize that a few days of actual rest and relaxation are in order, theres no place better than along Floridas beautiful coastlines. Whether you choose the pounding surf of the Space Coast or the calm and warmth of the Gulf Coast waters, Florida's beaches offer miles of sparkling blue waters and white powdery sands speckled with shells and sea creatures as well as some of the most spectacular sunsets around. In addition, youll find nature preserves, state parks, aquariums, and zoos all waiting to be explored, with an array of attractions sprinkled in just for good measure.
If youre trying to decide between the Atlantic coast or the Gulf for your well deserved break at the beach, keep in mind that the east coast (in particular the Cocoa Beach area) is a bit less developed, less touristy, and far quieter in general. The surf pounds in from the open ocean, making the water cooler and the waves far more intense.
Of course, theres the occasional jelly fish to contend with, but theyre not menacing enough to keep you out of the water. The Gulf Coast, on the other hand, is far more touristy. Hotel rooms book up faster and farther out, the restaurants fill up more quickly, and the beaches are definitely more crowded. It does have warmer and much calmer waters and far less rainfall (as the sun shines on average 361 days out of the year). Whether you choose to head east or west, though, Floridas beaches are the perfect place to rest, relax, and rejuvenate. Which direction you choose simp ly depends on the experience you are seeking.
The Beaches of Clearwater and St. Pete
With over 35 miles of sun-drenched white sand beach and warm Gulf waters, its no wonder that families flock to the Gulf Coast. Floridas Beach, as it is known, is by far the best and most beautiful playground around for kids and adults alike.
Spend an afternoon soaking up the never-ending sunshine (which shines on average 361 days a year), sinking your toes into the soft, sandy beach, searching for seashells, and building sand castles with your kids as the seagulls and sandpipers scurry about. The more adventuresome can try their hand at wind surfing, parasailing, jet skiing, and more.
There are parks to explore, piers to fish, boats to charter, and lots, lots more. The Gulf Coast is a celebration of nature at its best, both land and sea.
