Child Care, Babysitting, and Kids Programs in Detail
Nobody knows kids like WDW, so it shouldnt surprise you that they provide such an array of wonderful choices when it comes to child care. There are basically 2 options available to parents who would like a bit of time to themselves.
In-Room Child Care
This service is provided by Kids Nite Out, an outside child-care company specializing in child care for travelers. A sitter will come right to your room to care for the kids. They will care for children between the ages of 6 weeks and 12 years old. They also care for sick or special-needs children.
Kids Nite Out sitters come prepared with toys, arts, crafts, and appropriate activities.
There is a 4-hour minimum for in-room sitting, and the rates are as follows:
-$14 per hour for1 child
-$16.50 per hour for 2 children
-$19 per hour for 3 children
-$21.50 per hour for 4 children
If you have more than 4 kids (like I do), you will need to call for the appropriate rates.
Holiday rates are available by calling directly.
There is also an $8 transportation fee.
If child care begins after 9:00 p.m., there is an additional charge of $2 per hour.
If you intend to have a sitter for over 8 hours, a meal should be provided for them.
If you need to cancel your arrangements, it must be done at least 4 hours in advance to avoid any charges. If you need to cancel for sitting that is scheduled to start prior to 11:00 a.m., you must cancel by 9:00 p.m. the night before. For all cancellations or changes, you must speak directly to a representative.
Kids Nite Out accepts only credit cards for payment; sitters may accept cash for tips only.
Tips are strictly optional, but if you feel that your sitter has done an exceptionally good job caring for your kids, tipping is a great way to say thank you.

Supervised Child Care & Children’s Activity Programs |
|
|
Select resorts throughout Walt Disney World offer supervised child-care programs - each offering a fun-filled evening of activities (including among others, Disney movies, video games, and arts and crafts) all geared to entertain your kids. Dinner is also provided and is generally offered between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 p.m.
Requirements: Kids must be between the ages of 4 and 10 years old and must be potty-trained.
Hours: The programs generally run from 4:30 p.m. to midnight and are available daily.
Cost: The cost is currently $11 per hour per child.
The supervised programs include the following:
-The Cub's Den at Disney's Wilderness Lodge
-The Neverland Club at Disney's Polynesian Resort
-The Sandcastle Club at Disney's Beach Club Resort
-The Mouseketeer Clubhouse at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa
-Simba's Clubhouse at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge
-The Dolphin Club at the Walt Disney World Dolphin
In addition to the supervised child-care programs offered at the resorts, Walt Disney World offers a variety of themed adventures. These are activity-based programs that last only a few hours (or less) and are not to be mistaken for child care. Children must be between the ages of 4 and 10 unless otherwise noted (and they must be potty-trained).
Disney’s Grand Adventures and Supervised Activities:
-Grand Adventures in Cooking: Here children paint their own apron and decorate their own chef's hat. They will listen to a story, then create a dessert related to that story. This adventure is offered Tuesdays and Fridays at the Grand Floridian from 10:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. The cost is $28.17 per little chef, tax included.
-The Wonderland Tea Party: The characters of Alice in Wonderland join in on all the fun for an afternoon "tea" party. The children will enjoy refreshments and stories, later decorating cupcakes to eat after lunch (which is included). This adventure is offered Monday through Friday at the Grand Floridian from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. The cost is $28.17 per child, tax included.
-My Disney Girls Perfectly Princess Tea Party: This celebration is more like an event than a simple tea party, as little girls often come decked out, dressed in their favorite princess costume just for the occasion. The cost is $250 for one adult and one child ($165 for each additional child and $85 for each additional adult). While this is an expensive afternoon out, there's more than just tea on the menu here. Each little girl receives a collector princess doll and jewelry (little boys receive a princely teddy bear) and has the opportunity to hobnob with Princess Aurora while sipping tea and dining on cakes. Even with the high price tag, this is one of the most popular children's events in the park.
Arrangements can be made to join in on the fun by calling 407-WDW-DINE (407-939- 3463).
-Bush Camp (which takes place at Disney’s Animal kingdom Lodge) offers kids (in thisb case ages 6 to14) an opportunity to learn about the African Culture through a variety of activities (including games, arts and crafts, and fun with food). They’ll even get to head out on safari (to the savannah). Bush Camp is offered on Saturdays from 1 pm to 4 pm. Reservations must be made ahead of time and a credit card deposit is required. The cost is $70 per child. $20 of the cost will be donated to the Wildlife Conservation fund.
-Disney's Pirate Cruise Adventure: Here children embark on a pirate's hunt for buried treasure. They will cruise around the Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake, stopping at various ports along the way and searching for clues that will lead them to the buried treasure that awaits. This adventure is offered on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Lunch is included. The cost to send each little pirate is $28.17, tax included. A lifeguard will accompany your little treasure hunters.
The ship sails from the Grand Floridian marina.
-Disney’s Caribbean Pirate Adventure takes kids (ages 4 to10) on a different kind of treasure hunt as the ship sets sail upon the Caribbean seas, the captain regaling tales of treasure along the voyage. The ship sets sail on Sundays and Tuesdays from Disney's Caribbean Beach marina at 9:30 am. The cost is $28.17 per child, tax included.
-The Albatross Treasure Cruise offers kids ages 4 to10 the opportunity to search for clues along Crescent Lake and Epcot's World Showcase lagoon all leading to a hidden treasure. The cruise departs on Wednesdays and Fridays at 9:30 am from Disney's Yacht & Beach Club Resorts). The cost is $28.17 per child, tax included.
-Disney’s Bayou Pirate Adventure Cruise offers kids the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of pirate John Lafitte as they follow his map on a hunt for hidden treasure. The boat departs on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9:30 am departing from Disney's Port Orleans Resort (Riverside). The cost is $28.17 per child, tax included.
Rates and Times
For all of the child-care options or children's activities, always call in advance to verify information, particularly rates and times, as these are subject to change at any time.
Advance reservations are required for all programs. Space in the Disney Grand Adventures for Kids is very limited, so planning well in advance is a necessity to ensure a space for your child. If you need to cancel an Adventure or Grand Adventure reservation, notice of at least 24 hours is required to avoid being charged the full cost.
