In Brief
This resort is a big favorite with families. And its no wonder given than no one even comes close to catering to the needs of kids and families quite the way that the Nickelodeon Family Suites does. Once the most family-friendly resort in all of central Florida and a huge hit with families since the get-go, the Holiday Inn Family Suites has evolved to become the Nickelodeon Family Suites. Signature Nickelodeon colors and a cast of very familiar characters can be found splashed throughout the resort from the Mall to the Oasis and Lagoon (the resorts completely renovated pool and play areas), to the kid-friendly themed Kidsuites.
The Nickelodeon Family Suites Resort is simply made-to-order for families, offering an outstanding array of family-friendly amenities and services. With the top names in family travel (Holiday Inn) and family entertainment (Nickelodeon) joining forces to create this resort, its no wonder the results are so amazing. I will admit that the colors and characters may scream cartoon, but the kids go crazy for it. Dont worry, though, only the kids rooms (or Kidsuite area) are themed; the adults can escape to a more relaxing atmosphere when all is said and done. Did I say relaxing? Is anything really relaxing when youre in a suite with your kids?
The Highlights:
-The Nickelodeon Style entertainment
-The 2 extensive water play and pool areas as well as a rather lengthy list of recreational offerings
-the extensive childrens activities , entertainment, and programs
-a very casual comfortable atmosphere where kids can act like kids
-the Kidsuites (and other varied suite-stule accommodations)
-the array of appropriate onsite dining and shopping available
-the proximity to the Walt Disney World Parks (only about 5 minutes away) and the proximity to all of the tourist areas including Lake Buena Vista, International Drive, and Kissimmee (the hotel is smack dab in the middle of them all making it extremely easy to get just about anywhere).
In-Room Amenities:
There are 777 suites in total, including 2-bedroom King and Queen Kidsuites, as well as 3-bedroom 2-bath Kidsuites and 1-bedroom Kitchen or Whirlpool Suites. Nickelodeon has taken the original Holiday Inn Kidsuite to a whole other level. The kids area still includes either bunks and a pull-out sleeper bed or 2 twin beds, a TV, DVD, small activity table, fun phone, and of course a Nickelodeon theme, however there are now even larger Kidsuites available including 2-bedroom and 3-bedroom/2-bathroom Kidsuites. The 2-bedroom suite can sleep up to 7 with reasonable comfort, and the 3- bedroom suite offers space for up to 9, with the bonus of having 2 full bathrooms. The family room is a bit on the small side, but, given that you have the bedroom(s) and the Kidsuite area to retreat to, it is really of no consequence. The kitchenette in the 2- bedroom suite is also smallish, but it is just right for making snacks, storing a few drinks, and keeping baby food and formula fresh. If you have a 3-bedroom suite (or a 1- bedroom kitchen suite), a full-size, fully equipped kitchen is at your disposal. Making a quick meal or stocking up for breakfast (hot or cold) is a great way to save both time and money so you can get to the parks a bit earlier--if you make it that far with the extraordinary pools and recreation areas right at the resort tempting you to stay and play.
The family room in all of the suites includes a pull-out sleeper sofa, television, video player, rocking chair, small game table (which doubles as a very small dining table), a safe, telephone with voice mail, high-speed Internet access (which is free). The main bedroom includes a telephone, vanity and work station with separate Internet connection, a lighted make-up mirror, hair dryer, iron and ironing board, and television. The Kidsuite area includes bunk beds and a pull-out sleeper bed or two twin beds, a television, DVD player, video game system, CD/cassette player, and a small activity table. The 3- bedroom 2-bathroom suites include 2 master bedrooms (please see the amenities listed above), a Kidsuite area (as described above). The 1-Bedroom Kitchen or Whirlpool Suites include1 master bedroom (amenities listed above), a parlor area with either a full kitchen or a 117-gallon heart-shaped whirlpool in addition to a TV. As far as kitched facilities in the other suites, a mini-kitchen including a small sink, small refrigerator, microwave, and coffeemaker is what youll find in the 2-bedroom Kidsuite while the 1- bedroom Kitchen Suite and 3-bedroom Kidsuites include a full-sized, fully equipped kitchen with a stove-top range, full-size refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, coffeemaker, and an extended countertop.

-Nick for the Holidays including the SpongeBob Squarepants Christmas Show (reservations suggested), Holiday-themes intertwined into the daily activities, visits from Santa Claus, special holiday menus at the restaurants, and special sliming to ring out the old year and ring in the new.
Recreational Facilities:
The pool areas are by far the real highlight of this newly remodeled resort. The Oasis in the west courtyard and the Lagoon in the east both boast unique water play and recreational areas. The Lagoon sports a zero-depth entry pool with a 4-story water tower full of slides, climbing nets, water jets, and a 500-gallon dump tank, along with 2 extralarge whirlpool spas. You can also find a recreational team poolside leading hula-hoop contests and float races, among other unique activities. The kids sand play area offers hours of fun for preschoolers and younger kids with its 5-foot slide and Nick Jr-based activities. Older kids can shoot hoops or play the 9-hole mini-golf course--just watch out for the sand traps and obstacles. If all that running, climbing, and jumping about in the water makes you hungry, you can grab a bite poolside at the Pool Bar and Grill, where burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, and salads are the fare.

The Oasis features waterslides and a water tower complete with an erupting geyser spewing water out over the guests riding the flume and water slides below. With lower-level slides for the younger kids, no one will miss out on the action here. There is even a shaded play area with slides, squirters, and a giant sand box . The Poolside Snack Bar will curb your craving if you feel like a bite to eat but dont feel like leaving.
Two additional and unique features (other than the fact that this is the only Nickelodeon Resort anywhere in the world) include Studio Nick and the Kids Spa. At Studio Nick, the resort presents free nightly family entertainment, including live stage shows with Nicktoon characters and Nickelodeon-style family activities. At the Kids Spa, kids get the chance to be pampered with facials, manicures, and tattooing (the temporary type, of course). Spa services currently range in price from $10 to $40 for individual services and $35 to $99 for packages.
The new 3,000-square-foot arcade that needs no further explanation
Dining
Nicktoons Café offers full-service lunch and dinner. This is also where the daily character breakfast is held featuring visits from Sponge Bob, Dora, Tommy and Chuckie, just to mention a few. Breakfast includes, among other things, waffles, bacon, sausage, eggs, fruit, and even a special kids buffet. The cost for the character breakfast is $8 per child 12 and under, and $16 per person 13 and older. American fare is on the menu for lunch and dinner, and kids 12 and under can eat free from a special menu. This provides an option other than the food court. Prices tend to lean toward the higher end, though they are certainly comparable to restaurants offering similar fare outside of the resort.
If you would prefer to eat minus the characters, the Buffet offers a variety of hot breakfast items from 6:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
The breakfasts at the Buffet and at the Nicktoons Café are excellent. The variety, which at times seems unending, and the quality are both top-notch.
The Pizza Hut Express, Edys, Barnies Coffee, and A&W Restaurant need little explanation, other than to say that they can be a real lifesaver when it comes time to feed the kids. Offering relatively quick service, menu choices that the kids (and even adults) will like, not to mention that they offer extended hours for those late nights at the parks - what more could you ask for? Theres even a Kids Eat Free program (up to 4 kids ages 12 and under eat free per paying adult - the only exception being the character breakfast where youll have to pay the full fare for the entire family)

In Brief:
If Ive said it once, Ive said it a thousand times - dont judge a book by its cover. The Orlando Marriott World Center is a perfect example. With its glass high-rise exterior and the sheer size of the structure, the resorts outward appearance screams business. Upon entering, however, I was most pleasantly surprised to find that the World Center is truly a family-friendly find. This is not to say, of course, that the resort is not businessappropriate.
While it is an exceptional resort for business travelers and conventioneers alike, with its wide range of business services and meeting facilities, its abundance of family-friendly features was what attracted me to this resort.
The friendly and knowledgeable staffers welcome you to the Marriott as if you were their only guest, which is almost unheard of in a resort of this size. Most impressive as well is their willingness to ensure that your experience at their resort is the best it can possibly be. Service is back in style at the World Center Marriott. What first strikes you upon entering are the towering twin glass elevators just off the center of the lobby.
Adorned with lush foliage throughout and a backdrop of soothing blue waves behind the front desk, the lobby is most certainly the hub of this resort. It is here that you will find several of the resorts restaurants and lounges, along with a Starbucks and the News Network shop.
While the building itself is awe-inspiring, it does not overwhelm you. Despite its size, it is amazingly easy to get around. It does not at all feel as tremendous as it truly is, as much of its size can be attributed to the 214,000 square feet of meeting space. Since the main building is significantly taller than it is wide, the resort does not feel as expansive as many other resorts in the area of the same size, though you wont get out of walking altogether.
This resort is best suited for a family with no more than 2 or 3 kids, generally over the ages of 6 or so, given its more upscale atmosphere, amenities, and recreational offerings. That is not to say that it is not suitable for younger children-it is. If you have only toddlers or younger children, however, there are other recommended resorts that would better suit their needs and tastes.
The Highlights:
- Location, location, location. The World Center Marriott is just 1 1/2 miles from the
entrance to Walt Disney World, and it is a very direct and lightly traveled route. Its also only a short distance (about 15-20 minutes) from SeaWorld and Universal Orlando, though you will have to fight the congestion of I-Drive to get to SeaWorld, and either the traffic of I-4 or congestion of I-Drive to get to Universal Orlando.
-The location is also in a relatively undeveloped area at the southern end of the International Drive and the S.R. 535 and 536 and as such the roadways are far less traveled. It is however only a short distance to the hustle and bustle of International Drive as well as S.R. 535, both of which are home to a wealth of restaurants, shops, and attractions. And just a few minutes south is the U.S. 192/Kissimmee area, also full of restaurants, shops, and attractions
-Extensive recreational facilities and kid-friendly activites
-Extensive dining options offering a range of choices both families as well as a special evening out just for parents
-Well appointed and beautifully decorated rooms
-Exceptional service
In-Room Amenities
The World Center Marriott boasts 2,000 rooms and suites, all quite beautifully decorated. Now, I know that you have heard that before, but I was truly impressed with their choice of colors, linens, and furnishings. It could be best described as an incredibly tasteful cross between Laura Ashley and Ralph Lauren inspired decor. Some of the inner rooms overlook the lobby, while others located near the center overlook the pool area, and the higher rooms offer a distant view of the Disney landscape. Of course, the better the view, the higher the price youll pay.
Okay, lets talk rooms. This is where you will be spending the majority of your off-hours, if you will, and you will need to consider very carefully what exactly is required to make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. The World Center offers a variety of standard rooms as well as suites, so deciding which will work for you depends upon both the size of your family and your needs for in-room amenities.
The rooms are all impeccably decorated. What really distinguishes them from each other are their physical layouts and the views they offer. Standard rooms are available with either a king or 2 double beds, both of which offer a reasonable amount of space for lounging around in the evenings after a long day at the parks. Promenade rooms have the same sleeping capacity but offer a fair amount of additional space, along with the added bonus of 2 TVs. The Executive King room offers a bit more space than the standard King room, with the added bonus of a pool view. However, if you have more than 2 or 3 children, or if you have older kids, a suite may be more in line with your needs. There are 3 different types of suites: the Executive King, the Fairway, and the 2- or 3-Bay Vista. You can even create your own suite by booking connecting rooms in a variety of room combinations. Among the traditional suites listed above, each has a decent-sized balcony, including patio furniture to relax and enjoy the view, along with a sleeper sofa in the living area (or parlor, as they call it here). The Vista suites offer additional amenities such as a formal dining area, separate sitting areas, and, in the 3-bay Vista, a wet bar with its own service entrance.
In general youll find oversized balconies, high-speed Internet access, a 2-line telephone with voice messaging and data port, a television with in-room pay movies available, an AM/FM clock radio, hair dryer, coffeemaker, mini bar, safe, and a full-size iron and ironing board. Cribs are available upon request.
Guest Services:

-Valet parking is available

-An extensive business center
-An array of retail shops
-A Newsstand and Coffee Shop

Child care & Childrens programs:
While there are no programs on-site, child care is available through an independent service and can be arranged through the concierge.
Recreational Facilities
Hidden away from the front view of the resort, and located just behind the lobby, is the lush oasis that surrounds the resorts main pool area. Surrounded by palm trees and beautiful gardens, the resorts distinctive pool area is incredibly inviting, just begging you to relax, enjoy, and take in the warm Florida sunshine. Soothing waterfalls and curving slides just add to the atmosphere. Or, if you prefer, an indoor pool awaits you as well. If golf is your game of choice, Hawks Landing offers a championship course as well as a clinic for the kids.
Facilities include:
-600,000-gallon lagoon-shaped pool area with slides and waterfalls
-2 additional pools and an indoor pool
-2 childrens pools
-5 whirlpool tubs
-Sand-play area
-Basketball court
-4 lighted tennis courts
-2 sand volleyball courts
-Daily resort activities
-Video arcade
-Hawks Landing Golf Club - offering a par 72, championship, 18-hole course, rental equipment. and daily clinics
-The Spa and Fitness Center - offering full spa services and a 24-hour fitness center
Dining
You will never go hungry at this resort, as the World Center Marriott truly offers something for everybody. From a quick bite at the food court (and this is not your typical food court) to a full-course (and very entertaining) meal at the Mikado Japanese Steakhouse, you will find 6 eateries in all. In addition, you will find refreshment at the Lobby Bar, the Pavilion Pool Bar, and Starbucks, each with its own distinctive atmosphere and diverse menu.
Solaris offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner, it is probably best known for its 21 fabulous buffets: the daily breakfast buffet and the Friday night seafood buffet. Both offer a variety of regional foods with a Caribbean flair, along with plenty of additional traditional choices, and a variety of made-to-order dishes. The atmosphere is both casual and relaxing, thanks in part to the servers, who are noticeably friendly and attentive.
Ristorante Tuscany provides fresh and simple Tuscan cooking. Actually trained in Tuscany, Italy, the chefs are able to ensure that the blend of meats, fish, vegetables, and spices are as authentic as the regions own offerings. The upscale atmosphere makes it a better choice for adults. At Champions you can sit back and take in your favorite sport--whether it be hockey, basketball, baseball, or football--on any of 17 televisions, while enjoying a burger, wings, salad, sandwich, or a variety of other casual offerings. Champions can get to be a bit much for families with small children, as the evenings become a bit rowdy with sports fans cheering on their favorite teams. If you can swing an earlier dinner, or lunch perhaps, kids appreciate the menu choices as well as the entertainment on the screens.
Mikado, a Japanese steakhouse thats a particular favorite of mine, is exceptional among the many located throughout the Orlando area. The atmosphere is more intimate, as the large tables are set in alternating and slightly partitioned areas, unlike many other Japanese restaurants, in which all tables are set together in a large open room. And the food itself is exceptional. An added special spice really brings out the flavor of every dish without being overpowering. The skill and artistry of the chefs who prepare the meal right before your eyes are always amazing and entertaining. This is a good choice for a special, slightly fancier dinner out with kids. An earlier evening is again suggested if you have toddlers, as it will be a bit less crowded.
24 hour room service is available as well.
Shops: A handful of shops including a newsstand and a small boutique with a small selection of resort wear and sundries can be found on the main and lower levels of the resort.

In Brief
From the minute you check in, it is quite apparent that this resort was made with families in mind. Aside from the brightly painted façade that has become almost a signature of this resort, kids have their own pint-sized check-in desk where they can pick up a welcome goody bag made just for them. Camp Holiday is located just off the lobby area, welcoming kids ages 4-12 to join supervised activities while Mom and Dad take some time for themselves. The Castle Movie Theater is not far off, continuously running family flicks for everyone to enjoy. Also located nearby is the CyberArcade, to keep the entire family entertained with a variety of arcade-style games, as well as Internet access.
Holiday Inn has pioneered family travel, and this resort in particular has set the standard in Orlando, offering amenities and services that make traveling with the kids so much easier and so much more fun for the whole family.
The Highlights:
-Extensive recreational offerings appropriate for children
-Numerous casual onsite dining options including a kids eat free program
-Kidsuites offering separate space and additional amenities
-A location thats central to all of the area attractions, restaurants, and shops
In-Room Amenities:
The rooms are the main draw here - either a deluxe standard room with 2 queen beds or the Kidsuite with a king bed and separate childrens sleeping and play area.
What I find so unique at the Sunspree (other than the Kidsuites) is the separate kitchenette in every room. Most resorts that provide a kitchenette have it located right smack in the middle of the main room. Here you will find it partitioned off by a wall, allowing for more privacy and allowing you to relax without having to stare at the kitchen all night long. The kitchenette is invaluable to families as it allows them to keep snacks and drinks right in the room for those inevitable times that someone will get hungry--which is usually at a very inopportune time. You can also stock up on breakfast items, saving both time and money that you can better spend at the parks. Another distinguishing feature of the Sunspree is that small pets (under 25 lbs.) are allowed to stay with the family (for an additional fee).
All in all there are 507 rooms, including 276 deluxe standard rooms and 231 Kidsuites. All rooms open to exterior corridors and there are several 6-story guest-room buildings that surround the pool area. Youll find that standard rooms include 2 queen beds, a telephone with voice mail and data port, a television and VCR, a safe, an Iron and ironing board, a hair dryer, separate kitchenette area with microwave, mini-refrigerator, coffeemaker, sink, counter space, and cabinets, and oversized bathrooms. Cribs, childsafety kits, and Smart-Sitter high chairs are available upon request at no charge. The Kidsuites include all of the amenities listed above however with a king bed in the main bedroom. The separate Kidsuite area includes 1 or 2 sets of bunk beds, a TV, VCR, fun phone, clock radio, mini-boom box, and Nintendo.

Child Care & Childrens Programs
Camp Holiday is a supervised activity program for kids ages 4-12 (must be fully potty-trained). Space is on a first-come, first-served basis only, so get there early. You must also fill out the required registration forms prior to attending (you can pick them up when you arrive or have them sent to you ahead of time). Parents actually leaving the resort will be required to rent a pager for a small fee so that someone from the resort can contact you quickly in case of an emergency. The camp is generally open from 3:30 p.m. until 10:00 p.m., though it varies seasonally, so check ahead of time for exact hours. The cost is $5 per child per hour, but special packages may be arranged upon request. If your child will be there during dinner, there is a charge for their meal (they must arrive by 4:45 for this). I recommend that you send along snacks and drinks for the kids if they will be there during movie times, as they are not provided. The kids can enjoy arts and crafts, playing games, and watching movies, along with other fun activities while they are there.
The schedule is posted daily, so check it out if there is something the kids dont want to
miss.
Recreational Facilities Include:
-The Castle Movie Theater
-A Playground
-Basketball court
-Seasonal scheduled activities
-1 main heated pool
-1 childrens pool
-2 whirlpools
-the CyberArcade game room
Dining
Dining with kids at the Sunspree is a pleasure as the resort offers several familyfriendly eateries with something to please even the pickiest palate.
The Kidsuite Gang Deli is open from 7:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. It offers an emporium of eateries within, from Ginos, where you can get pizza, pasta, subs, wings, and salads, among other items, to Maxines Kitchen, where you can pick up burgers and sandwiches or sit down for the breakfast or dinner buffet. À la carte items are available as well. Up to 4 kids 12 and under eat free for breakfast and dinner from a special menu when accompanied by a paying adult. You can top it all off with an Edys ice cream for dessert.
When traveling with kids, food court and buffet-style eateries are absolutely fantastic, as inevitably everyone will want something different. Having several choices in a food court or being able to see the food at a buffet makes for a much happier bunch in the long run. I would gladly trade off a little ambience for a happier, more enjoyable dinner hour with my kids.
Pinkys Convenience Court is a unique mini-market where you can pick up snacks, drinks, and even microwavable foods to stock up your room. They also offer some great on-the-go items for a quick bite on the run. If you just cant leave the sun and fun of the pool, you can grab a snack and a drink at the Barefoot Snack Bar without ever having to leave the Florida sunshine.
Room service is also available from noon until 11:00 p.m. (no free kids meals with room service however).
Shops
A convenience mart featuring snack items and on the go food, as well as a small souvenir and sundries shop are both located onsite.

In Brief
This is a resort you will not soon forget. As beautiful inside as it is out, the Hyatt Grand Cypress is landscaped with palm trees, waterfalls, lush gardens, and accent lighting. Music softly plays in the background as you enter the grand atrium lobby, in itself an oasis full of greenery and walkways, bringing some of Floridas beautiful outdoors in.
The recreational offerings are endless, and with so much to do you may never want to leave. The private lake has a white sandy beach for making sand castles or just squishing sand between your toes. If you prefer the water, you can sail around the lake or head to the absolutely amazing pool full of grottos, waterfalls, and a waterslide, all set in a tropical paradise of plants and palms. The rooms are beautifully decorated, each with a private balcony and offering plenty of space to relax in comfort. The atmosphere
throughout is luxurious and upscale.
While the rooms at the Hyatt Grand Cypress are smaller, accommodating only families with 2-3 children, the resort is simply fabulous. (Keep in mind, however, that the Villas of Grand Cypress just down the road offer more spacious accommodations appropriate for a larger family with 3-4 children.) This upscale resort offers luxurious surroundings but still keeps in mind that families require additional amenities and offerings. Their array of recreational and child-friendly activities are unmatched by any resort around.

-Stunning surroundings both inside and out
-Located only a short distance (5 to 10 minutes) from Downtown Disney, as well as other area restaurants and shops, yet set off in a quiet retreat of over 1,500 acres.

Child Care & Childrens Programs
Camp Gator, an activity program for kids 5-12, is a great way for kids to play the day away under the watchful eye of the Camp Gator counselors. Theyll find themselves on scavenger hunts, bird tours, or even a visit to the equestrian center to pet and feed the horses. There is cookie making, sand art, necklace making, and more. The program is offered during the summer months, generally from Memorial Day until Labor Day, at a cost of $35 for a half day or $60 for a full day (lunch included).
Camp Hyatt Child Care Center is available for kids 3-12 (must be potty-trained).
The center is full of books, toys, games, and more for kids to enjoy. Just outside the back door (and fenced in for security) is a wonderful outdoor play area with swings, a jungle gym, and plenty of space to just run around and be a kid. Lunch can be provided for an additional fee and includes plenty of favorites from which to choose. The center is small enough not to be overwhelming to younger kids, but chock full of activities and toys that ensure they wont be bored. The cost is approximately $10 per hour. Reservations 24 hours in advance are suggested for either program.
There are also plenty of activities for kids offered daily, which are posted by the pool towel hut. Token dives, three-legged races, kite flying, and treasure hunts are just a few of the unique activities in which the kids can partake--all at no extra charge.
Recreational Facilities
Many of the activities and rentals at the Hyatt Grand Cypress are priced individually. To make it easier, the Resort Services Program (for $13 per night) allows unlimited use of the health club, driving range, court time at the Grand Cypress Racquet Club, bicycle rentals, Pitch N Putt golf, and the daily shuttle to the Walt Disney World Resort, Universal Orlando, and SeaWorld.
In addition to the fabulous pool and private lake (where, besides the white sandy beach, bicycle and boat rentals are available), you will find an equestrian center, racquet club, health club, golf academy, and 4 exclusive golf courses.
An upscale resort, the Hyatt still takes families into consideration by offering an array of family-oriented activities, in addition to their extensive recreational facilities.
On Fridays and Saturdays, the beach fire pit comes to life with storytelling, campfire songs, and marshmallow roasting. Over at the pool you can enjoy a family film while splashing around in the water, and the popcorn is free.
Dining
The Cascade Restaurant, open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, offers an upscale yet casual atmosphere. Surrounded by tropical plants and trees and complete with a soothing waterfall, it is all set in a 2-story atrium with views and a terrace overlooking the lake and lagoon. (Dinner is served on the terrace only.) The menu offers continental cuisine.
The White Horse Sports Bar and Grill is an upscale sports bar and grill thats definitely geared to adults.
Hemingways, another upscale restaurant geared to the adults, offers a Key West style
atmosphere.
Palm Café & General Store is a casual, deli-style restaurant offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with both indoor and outdoor patio seating. The general store offers an array of on-the-go items with plenty of snacks and drinks. This is probably the best bet if you have younger kids in tow, as most of the dining at the resort is, in my opinion, far too upscale for most young children. Older children, say over 8, would fare far better. I would still stick to the Palm Café and Cascade, with possibly (but questionably) Hemingways or the Club.
La Coquina offers elegant dining in an elegant atmosphere with a very special Chefs Table dining experience; this is definitely a restaurant for the adults.
The Black Swan, located at the Villas, offers yet another fine dining experience. It is not a restaurant for children.
The Club, also located at the Villas, offers an upscale sports-bar atmosphere, serving breakfast (fruits, pastries, eggs, and much more), lunch (salads, specialty sandwiches, and entrees), and dinner (seafood, steak, and chicken). Appetizers and a lighter menu are available between the lunch and dinner hours.
There is 24-hour room service, so if you think the kids just arent ready for some of the restaurants, that may be the best way to go. There are also plenty of casual familyoriented restaurants right along Vineland Apopka (S.R. 535) only about 5 minutes away, and of course Downtown Disney is only about 10 minutes away, offering dining and shopping galore.

In Brief
This all-suite hotel is perfect for families, as its spacious suites offer plenty of room. Depending on which suite you choose, the room can accommodate up to 8. The location is right in the middle of all the action, close to the Downtown Disney and Crossroads areas - both chock full of dining and shopping venues--yet it is set back off the main road a bit, offering a reasonably quiet setting to come back to after a busy day at the parks.
There are plenty of amenities to make life on the go a bit easier for traveling families, including a grocery-delivery service and a car-rental desk right on site.
This is by far one of my favorite hotels in the area. The spacious suites are nicely laid out and rather roomy, allowing the family plenty of space to spread out, relax, and not be on top of one another. The bedroom(s) allow for quiet naps and added privacy, while the full kitchen allows no-hassle breakfasts and stocking up on snacks.. You dont even have to go to the grocery store yourself, as the delivery service permits you to fill out a form and have the groceries delivered right to your room (free of charge if you meet the $25 minimum). If you feel it necessary, there is a store just a minute or two up the road. This type of flexibility is invaluable when traveling with kids.
Being so close to area restaurants as well as Downtown Disney is a huge advantage. The Crossroads area (2 minutes or so away) is full of shops of every variety, a Goodings grocery store, restaurants, and a great mini-golf course, while Downtown Disney offers its own brand of shops, entertainment, and an array of restaurants. While normally my favorite properties include particularly fabulous pools, on-site casual dining, and some type of child care, this one just has such fabulous rooms and the location is so close to it all that I couldnt help but add it to the list. This one should definitely be at the
top of your list.

One version has a queen bed in each bedroom with a daybed in the second bedroom; the other has a queen bed in one bedroom with 2 double beds in the other. The overall configuration of all the suites is a bit cozier, as the bedrooms are on either side surrounding the family living area, not off in the distance. In-room amenities include separate bedroom(s) and living areas, TVs and a VCR, a sleeper sofa, phone(s) with voice mail and data port, a walk-in closet, free highspeed Internet, a hair dryer, and an iron and ironing board.

However, located close by you will find an array of dining options along Vineland Apopka (S.R. 535), as well as just down the road at Downtown Disney. There is also a service that delivers meals from local restaurants right to your room. In Brief:
The resort and villas both offer very spacious suites (all of which could rival a small home) with 1, 2, or 3 bedrooms, full kitchens, and thoughtful extras like padded corners on tables in the bedrooms, screened-in decks preventing a bout with any bugs, and the inroom mini-washer and dryer. The on-site recreational facilities are extensive, offering 3 pools (one even sports a volcano and waterfalls), a childrens wading pool, mini-golf, game room, and lighted basketball and tennis courts. There are a playground and scheduled kids activities too. A picnic area with grills is available if your feel like a barbeque; try the poolside café if you dont.
While the dining on-site is light, within minutes you will find an array of casual restaurants right along Vineland Apopka (S.R. 535) as well as at Downtown Disney. A neat feature that I particularly like is the tremendous book full of menus from area restaurants located right in the lobby. If youre curious as to what a restaurant has to offer, you will surely find its menu among the pages.
Cypress Point is by far a favorite, offering an array of amenities and extras, all most appropriate for families.

In Brief:
All of the amenities, recreational facilities, and its fabulous location on the corner of Hotel Plaza Boulevard and just across the street from Downtown Disney make the Palace a good choice for families. Older children (over 7 or so) may fare better than toddlers in this more upscale atmosphere.
The rooms are luxurious and well appointed, and the kids will appreciate the Sony Playstation. While there are 112 suites, most of the 1,014 rooms offer a more traditional layout, making them more appropriate for families with only 2 children (or maybe 3 if theyre younger).
The recreational facilities are extensive. There is an entire island full of pools (with one that is partially indoors, providing protection from the sun), tennis courts, and a playground.

In Brief:
This sprawling resort encompasses 135 acres of meticulously landscaped grounds full of palm trees and pines. As large as the property is, the recreational facilities are scattered throughout, so the likelihood is that with 7 pools (including childrens pools), 13 lighted tennis courts, 4 childrens playgrounds, miniature golf, basketball, shuffleboard, and volleyball courts, you are bound to find something fun to do right outside your door.
There are 3 lagoon-style pools, all with waterfalls and large sundecks. Five of the pools are designed with kids in mind, some offering a zero-depth entry, others with small kid sized waterslides.
The villas offer spacious accommodations with plenty of room to relax, and either 1 or 2 bedrooms (the 2-bedroom villas include 2 bathrooms) accommodating up to 8 guests. You will find all the comforts of home, including fully equipped kitchens with an oven, refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, coffeemaker, toaster, blender, and dinnerware. The living areas offer a queen sleeper sofa, TV, and VCR, while the bedrooms each have a TV as well. A washer and dryer can be found right in the villa, making laundry more of a convenience than a hassle, and most offer a screened-in balcony or terrace.
This resort includes 24-hour gated security, a general store and gift shop, video rentals, and activities programs. There are 3 restaurants right on-site, as well as a business center and guest services. Complimentary transportation to the Walt Disney World Resort is available.
The facilities are extensive, and the villas are like a home away from home. All of this, combined with the resorts central location, make the Sheraton Vistana Resort a rather good choice for vacationing families.

With the theme of an African safari carried throughout, this hotel offers a style unlikemost other hotels in the area. Of the 393 rooms, 90 are safari suites, offering separate living and sleeping areas, kitchenettes with a microwave, small sink, and minirefrigerator, as well as a sleeper sofa in the main room. All of the rooms, suite or standard, offer a balcony, TV(s), hair dryer, coffeemaker, iron and ironing board, phones

Theres a limo service in the lobby, though transportation to Disney is complimentary. There is also an ATM, gift shop, and a guest services desk. Guest and valet laundry are available, which can be a lifesaver at times when traveling with kids.
The hotel boasts a 79-foot python waterslide that plunks you right into the heated pool. This, plus a wading pool and childrens play area for younger kids, are all found in the center courtyard, nicely landscaped with palm trees and tropical plants. This may be one of the oldest hotels in the area, but it is by far one of the nicest, and all of the recent renovations have ensured this. While more appropriate for smaller families, with 2, or maybe 3 children, the hotel has plenty to offer. The rooms are oversized (as are the bathrooms) and include a sleeper sofa in a separate sitting area, video game system, mini-bar, TV, VCR, oversized safe, hair dryer, iron and ironing board, phone with voice mail and data port, desk, and each has a private balcony (or patio) as well.
Cribs and roll away beds are available upon request. There is no microwave or refrigerator, but a limited number of small refrigerators are available for a daily fee. (In a pinch, I have squeezed things into the mini-bar.)
Services include car rental by Budget, an ATM, child care (provided by Kids Night Out), room service, valet parking (for a fee; self-parking is free), laundry (both guest and valet), bell services, and concierge services.
The pool area is set in a landscaped courtyard centered between the buildings. Lighted tennis courts and a fitness center also can be found here.
There are a few choices for dining right on-site, including the Giraffe Café, openfor breakfast, lunch, and dinner; the Giraffe Tavern, offering appetizers, light dinners, and drinks; the Marketessen, a deli-style café offering snacks, sandwiches, and light meals; and SIPS Pool Bar that offers snacks, light meals, and drinks poolside. As well, the entire range of eateries of Downtown Disney is practically right at your doorstep, just up the road a bit. Downtown Disney is actually within a reasonable walking distance, though considering how far you have probably already walked in the parks all day, smaller kids may appreciate a ride.
The proximity to Downtown Disney (and Walt Disney World itself), area restaurants along Apopka Vineland (just at the other end of Hotel Plaza Boulevard), and the oversized rooms (all as nicely decorated as the entire hotel) are what make the Hotel Royal Plaza a fine choice for families.

In Brief:
With 3 separate hotels, an array of restaurants and shops right at your doorstep, and
plenty of amenities to satisfy any family, the Marriott Village makes for a great choice
with kids.
The Courtyard, the Fairfield Inn, and the Springhill Suites (my personal favorite of the three) offer an array of rooms from which to choose, whether you are in need of a standard-style hotel room (if you only have 2 children, maybe 3 with an infant) or larger suites that can accommodate up to 6 and that offer more room to relax and a bit of added privacy. All rooms, at all of the hotels, offer refrigerators, Sony Playstations, hair dryers, and irons and ironing boards, with cribs available upon request. Microwaves can be found in the rooms at the Springhill Suites. Safe deposit boxes are available at the front desk and concierge services. Laundry services (guest and valet), Hertz rental car, and an ATM are all on-site as well. Security is an added bonus as the village is a gated community. Shuttles are available to area theme parks for a small per-person fee.
The main pool is centrally located and features a childrens splash zone where kids can run around. Older kids will appreciate the video arcade.
Dining is no problem here. Not only is there a food court (the Village Marketplace) with a Pizza Hut, TCBY Yogurt, Oscar Meyer Hot Dog Construction Company, Oscar Meyer 1883 Deli, Village Grill and Village Coffee House right on-site, but the Bahama Breeze, Golden Corral, and Landrys Seafood are all within walking distance as well. This doesnt even include the array of restaurants just minutes away by car along Vineland Apopka (S.R. 535). With all that, theres even a complimentary breakfast buffet.
The Premium Outlets are just a minute up the road if youre in the mood for some great shopping.
